Welcome to The Addison Addition
A new Dallas Urbanists column exploring walkability, development, and civic life in the Town of Addison by Tyler Wright.

Hello there!
Nice to meet you. My name is Tyler.
Some may know me as a co-founder and current Vice President of Dallas Area Transit Alliance (DATA). Others may know me as the guy who’s having his second espresso at Dolce Paradiso right now.
Like many others, I caught the urbanism bug from a Not Just Bikes marathon during one of the many peaks of the Covid-19 pandemic. Trapped inside, I dreamed of living in a place that felt like walking through a classic main street. A place filled with unique businesses and people going about their day on foot, by bike, and even on the occasional horse.
I emerged from my pandemic cocoon, looked around, and found that my home in Addison was surprisingly close to that dream.
I’ve lived in Addison Circle for four years, and just signed another lease for a fifth year. It’s a great neighborhood, and the small but high-quality cadre of bars, cafes, restaurants, and salons gives my family more options and amenities that are accessible on foot.
Additionally, when I began taking more interest in getting involved locally, the town staff and representatives welcomed me with open arms. I have had the privilege to serve and apply myself on a few committees. I couldn’t be more grateful for the experience I have had so far.
It’s that work that has brought me here, to Dallas Urbanists, because I believe Addison has some of the highest potential for exceptional urbanism in the DFW region. And since we share a border with Dallas, we all stand to benefit from good development.
I hope The Addison Addition becomes a regular segment on the Dallas Urbanists blog, and that you enjoy reading about my small but mighty town.
