General public participation and two-way communication is essential to a Unified Transportation Program (UTP) project's success, helping create a more transparent and representative project decision-making process. While the UTP is not a final step before construction begins, the public has multiple opportunities to engage with and comment to their local TxDOT district during the pre-construction process — and since each project must be awarded funding to proceed, local community engagement and support increases the likelihood of a project receiving funding in the UTP. This public hearing is specifically to receive input on development of the upcoming year's UTP, including the project selection process. Presentation and recordings are made available for viewing after the event. See TxDOT's Strategic Public Engagement Guidance for more on public involvement opportunities.
