DART Cuts Public Meetings Week 3: Carrolton, Rowlett, Garland, and then Dallas again: It’s your turn!
The final round of cities get their chance to speak out against DART cuts the week of the 23rd!
Carrolton, Rowlett, Garland, and then back to Dallas, your meetings for the 14% service changes are the week of June 23! This is your chance to talk with DART staff and let them know how these cuts will impact you. Bring personal stories!
In addition to the in-person meetings, there will be a telephone town hall on Friday, June 27 and a virtual town hall on Tuesday, July 1. The Dallas meeting is downtown at DART headquarters the morning of Saturday, June 28. This is just a few hours before DATA’s regular general meeting at 1:30 in the downtown library, so speak out at the DART pre-public hearing and then join us for our DATA meeting!
A lesson learned from the first round of meetings: While there is a straight line from the 5% GMP to the 14% cuts, this meeting is about service changes, not the GMP. Come prepared to speak out against the cuts themselves.
The meetings are:
The discontinued routes in these cities are:
Route 209, McKinney/Cole, through Dallas, discontinued
Route 242, Walnut Hill, through Dallas, discontinued
Route 383, Express between downtown Dallas and Lake Ray Hubbard, discontinued
South Dallas GoLink, discontinued
GoLink Zone to Zone Pilots, discontinued
Red, Blue, Orange, Green, and Silver Lines, significantly reduced frequencies
Most other busses, reduced frequencies
Do these cuts impact you? Come out and let DART staff know how it will harm you! Are these taking the cities and region in the wrong direction? Let DART staff know that too, and make sure city officials hear you as you do so. The last two weeks’ of meetings have provided staff with lots of ammo they can get to take back to the board. Let’s finish strong and make sure the board knows that these changes are bad for the region and bad for DART!
